The Magic of Fire
What is fire walking?
Firewalking is the act of walking barefoot over a bed of hot embers or stones. It has been and continues to be practiced by many peoples and cultures in many parts of the world to this day. The earliest known reference to it dates back to the Iron Age in India around 1200 BC. Firewalking still takes place today in a variety of traditional and modern cultural contexts, for example as a rite of passage in Tibet and as a purification ritual in Malaysia. In San Pedro (Spain), the summer solstice is celebrated annually with 2,000 firewalkers. In Singapore, the Fire Dance Festival is celebrated every year at the Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple. Fire is an elemental force that symbolizes transformation. At the Lianhuo Festival in Pan'an, China, people also walk barefoot over glowing coals. This centuries-old ritual not only serves to drive away evil but is also said to bring good luck and prosperity for the future. This traditional firewalking has already been added to the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage.

How to walk over embers.
At motivational and self-awareness seminars, it's often claimed that there's no scientific explanation for the "mind over matter". phenomenon of firewalking. However, this is false! There's actually a very simple explanation for why it's possible to walk over embers without getting burned: it's due to the low heat capacity and thermal conductivity of wood and its coal. This means that wood and coal conduct heat poorly—as does the layer of ash surrounding the embers. In fact, psychological factors are only relevant insofar as they help overcome fear and cross the embers quickly enough to avoid burns. The outcome of the firewalk is significantly influenced by the type of fuel, the nature of the ground, the amount of embers, the thickness of the ember layer, and, of course, the willingness of the firewalker to "go their own way" without hesitation.

Fire walking and mental training
Many traditional coaching sessions or workshops often remain superficial: too theoretical, too intellectual, too far removed from what makes real change possible. But true breakthroughs don't happen in the mind – they arise when we feel, act, and truly overcome our inner limits. With the Firewalking One-Day Seminar (+Mental Training), Firewalk Berlin offers an experience that touches deeply, releases fears, and ignites new strength. It's not about concepts, but about transformation that you can feel – with every step through the fire, with every heartbeat filled with courage. Mental strength plays a central role in firewalking. It's about overcoming fears, building self-confidence, and firmly believing in your own ability to walk safely over the hot coals. Those who prepare mentally can specifically align themselves with their goal and consciously leave behind distracting doubts or negative thoughts. Clear focus is equally crucial. During the firewalk, it is important to pay full attention to the goal and not allow yourself to be distracted by external influences. Those who walk the path over the coals with inner conviction and concentration increase the probability of successfully mastering the chosen challenge. Decision-making Increasing self-confidence (Professional) reorientation and reorientation Recognizing one's own values and potential Finding meaning and self-discovery Setting and achieving goals Stress management and burnout prevention Restoring work-life balance Raising awareness of one's own mindfulness and perception
